Performance Indicators*
Warmth
3/5
Several factors influence a jacket's warmth. Loft, or 'Fill Power,' measures down quality, while fill weight refers to the amount of down in grams. The type of down used also plays a key role. Our warmth ratings consider all three factors.
Packability
5/5
A garment's packability depends on several factors, including fabric weight, fill, and construction. We assess packability based on these elements and whether the garment can be packed into an internal pocket. Some Macpac items compress smaller than others.
Weight
2/5
Factors such as fabric weight, fill weight, and construction influence how light or heavy a garment feels. Our weight ratings consider all these elements. Some Macpac jackets are designed for lightweight performance, while others prioritize warmth over weight for colder conditions.

Product Description
The Alpine Series Pulsar is a synthetic climbing jacket for cold, damp conditions. Its proven combination of technical fabrics and fill is ideal above the snowline.
PrimaLoft® Gold P.U.R.E.™ insulation is lightweight, water resistant, and exceptionally warm for its weight. We've used it in two ways. There's more through the body for warmth where you need it, and a little less in the hood and arms so you can move freely.
The Pertex® Quantum NetPlus® outer is soft and superlight. Its tightly woven fabric traps still air and allows insulation to fully loft, maximising the insulation's efficiency. Pertex® Quantum fabric is made using NetPlus® material which is made from 100% post-consumer recycled nylon from discarded fishing nets.
A water repellent finish encourages light rain and snow to bead roll off its surface and underarm lift patterning ensures you can reach where you need to. The helmet-compatible hood is adjustable on the fly, and you can cinch the hem using the tabs in each hand pocket.
Our Alpine Series is the result of our partnership with the New Zealand Alpine Team (NZAT). This team of elite mountaineers demand premium lightweight equipment that doesn't compromise performance.
The main fabric is bluesign® approved which means it was manufactured with the responsible use of resources. -
