MEN'S
PUFFER JACKETS

What is a Puffer Jacket?

Some say men’s puffer jacket, others say men’s down jacket. The difference is only six letters, but when you’re looking for a men’s jacket to keep warm over the winter months then here’s a great place to start.

‘Puffer’ refers to the look, but these jackets and coats for men can be filled with down or synthetic insulation for use in different environments.

Colours

Staying warm for the season ahead is one thing, but standing out in a colour that you love, or finding that colour you’re after, can keep you visible in the alpine and add some style closer to home.

You can almost guarantee there will be a tried-and-true option in black, but each season we aim to add colours that complement our wider range. Whether they’re shades of brown, red, blue or yellow, there’s bound to be one for you.

Styles

Our men’s puffer jackets and vests come in all shapes and sizes — plus sizes included.

You can find long coats for when the temperature is around zero. Hooded and non-hooded options to suit your style. Oversized fits for a baggier look, and light, packable options for when every gram counts.

Fill

Men’s puffer jackets can be filled with either synthetic or down insulation. Sometimes they’re combined to get the best aspects of both, but the main difference comes down to water resistance and compressibility.

As a rule, duck and goose down is more compressible for its weight, but the tradeoff is water resistance. Synthetic insulation will retain warmth if it gets wet, but the compromise can be a slightly heavier garment. Synthetic jackets can still pack down, albeit not as much as down. Check out this article to fully understand which option is right for you.

All our duck and goose down is responsibly sourced. Among other things, that means no live-plucking and complete traceability through Allied Feather + Down. You can find more information on our down here.

Waterproof vs Water Resistant

When we say waterproof, we mean it. Sealed seams and bonded baffles ensure nothing gets between you and what’s keeping you warm. Water resistant, however, is a slightly different story.

The treatments we apply to water resistant fabrics are designed to encourage water to bead and roll off. They’re ideal for quick showers as you move from one place to another, but not sustained exposure.

Washing Your Puffer Jacket

Taking care of your jacket isn’t as simple as throwing it in the wash. You don’t need to wash it every time you wear it, either. Here’s a how-to we’ve put together to make it easy.

Washing Your Puffer Jacket

The fabrics we use are designed to withstand the odd bump or scrape, but there may come a time when a tear begins to leak feathers or expose insulation. We’ve got a repairs programme available through stores and select partners, or you can have a go at patching your jacket at home.

Quality outdoor gear, made responsibly, trusted to last in any environment.
